Tribal & Casino Bingos – The History
High Stakes Indian Bingo games were being operated by Native American tribes in several states in the early to mid-1980s. The Cabazon Tribe, located in Indio, CA, was also operating a small card club offering poker and other card games. The state of California sued in 1986 arguing that high-stakes bingo and poker games violated state regulations. The U.S. Supreme court decision in February 1987, known as the “Cabazon Decision”, affirmed the Tribes sovereign right to conduct gambling free of state regulation if that gambling activity was permitted in the state. This decision coincided with a period of rapid growth in reservation bingo, card rooms and ultimately, other forms of gaming.
Cactus Bingo Supply opened for business in 1988 in the midst of this proliferation of Indian Bingo games. Cactus and its staff had the opportunity and privilege of working closely with a very large cross section of professional managers. Extensive and invaluable experience resulted from working with the professional managers and their staff.
Today, Cactus Bingo has a long history of opening and helping to maintain high stakes bingo operations. We can work with architects and general contractors with equipment selection, placement, structural requirements and related electrical considerations. We have experience in attendance projections, break-even analysis and session formatting. Specials and Jackpot ideas have been accumulated for over 2 decades with statistical analysis and corresponding probabilities.
